The appointed Honorary Consul of the Slovak Republic to the Principality of Liechtenstein is JUDr. Matúš Gémeš.
SLOVAKIA
The Slovak Republic is a central European country that shares its borders with the Czech Republic, Austria, Hungary, the Ukraine and Poland. The capital of Slovakia is Bratislava and the official language is Slovak. As of 2024, the country has 5,4 million inhabitants.
Slovakia is a parliamentary republic with the President as head of state and the Prime Minister as head of government.
Slovakia was part of the former Czechoslovakia until it peacefully split into the Czech Republic and the Slovak Republic on January 1, 1993. It joined the European Union on May 1, 2004, and is also a member of the Schengen Area, NATO, and the United Nations. The country adopted the Euro as its currency on January 1, 2009.
Slovakia has a rich cultural heritage known for its folk traditions, music, dance, and traditional crafts. Notable sites include numerous castles, national parks, including the High Tatras, and other natural attractions.

LIECHTENSTEIN
The Principality of Liechtenstein is located in the heart of Europe and shares its borders with Switzerland and Austria. The political and cultural center is the capital, Vaduz. As of 2024, the population of Liechtenstein is approximately 40,000 people.
Liechtenstein is a constitutional, hereditary monarchy with a democratic and parliamentary basis; therefore, the power of the state is embodied in the reigning prince and in the people.
Liechtenstein was established as a sovereign member of the Holy Roman Empire in 1719 and became fully independent in 1806. It has maintained a policy of neutrality and has not been involved in any military conflicts since its founding. Liechtenstein is a member of the European Economic Area, Schengen Area, and many other international organizations, including the United Nations. It maintains a close relationship with Switzerland which, since 1924, includes a customs and monetary union. The national currency is the Swiss Franc.
Liechtenstein has a rich cultural scene with influences from its neighboring countries. The country is renowned for its stunning alpine scenery, making it a popular destination for outdoor activities like hiking, skiing, and mountain biking. The Rhine River forms the western border of the country with Switzerland, providing additional scenic beauty.
Today, Liechtenstein represents a broadly diversified business center with a strong industrial and financial sector. The debt free country stands for stability, security, and integrity. As a result, analysts at Moody’s and Standard & Poor’s have for years awarded Liechtenstein a AAA rating and underscored the country’s stable outlook.
